Preparedness and response to COVID-19 in Africa (Volume 2)

This supplement will document field experiences and best practices in preparedness and response efforts to curb COVID-19 and mitigate its effects in Africa.
The theme is Preparedness and Response to COVID-19 in Africa with the following sub-themes:

  1. The role of field epidemiology training programs in COVID-19 preparedness and response
  2. Country Experiences
  3. Public health innovations

Articles will focus on one or more of the following topics:

  1. Coordination, planning and monitoring at national, regional & continental levels
  2. Risk Communication and Community Engagement
  3. Surveillance, rapid response, case investigation and contact tracing
  4. Points of entry and cross-border initiatives and collaborations
  5. Laboratory capacity, testing, sample transportation, results reporting
  6. Infection Prevention and Control
  7. Operational support and logistics – e.g. PPE rational use, preposition etc
  8. Public health and social measures or Non-pharmaceutical Interventions such as Lockdowns, quarantine
  9. Guidelines and protocols development and deployment
  10. ICT and innovations such as virtual learning and telemedicine
  11. Maintaining essential health services
  12. International policy and global health diplomacy
  13. Social vulnerabilities, resilience and adaptability to the pandemic
